Your Electricity Bill Has a Line Item Most

Businesses Never Question

If your Victorian electricity bill includes a kVar demand tariff, you are paying a financial penalty — imposed by your energy retailer — for drawing reactive power from the grid. It appears as a small line on your bill. Over a year, it can amount to tens of thousands of dollars.

The businesses most affected are those with heavy motor loads, large HVAC systems, CNC equipment, injection moulding or blow moulding machines, industrial refrigeration, or commercial food processing equipment. If you run any of these, there is a high probability your power factor is poor — and you will not know by how much until it is measured.

A power quality audit is the only way to know for certain what is happening on your network, and whether a PFC system would deliver a return.

What the $1,500 Power Quality Audit Includes

This is not a desktop estimate or a generic recommendation. It is a measured, site-specific assessment of your actual electrical network — delivered as a written engineering report.

Step 1 — Logger Installation

Casey and the team attend your facility and install a professional-grade power quality logger directly into your switchboard. The logger records real power, reactive power, power factor, harmonic levels, and phase data across a full seven-day operating cycle — capturing peak production loads, night setback, and everything in between.

Step 2 — Removal and Analysis

After one week, we return to remove the logger and extract the data. Our team analyses the full dataset and prepares a written report covering your actual power factor profile, identified losses, kVar demand tariff exposure, and a clear recommendation on whether a PFC system is warranted and what size would suit.

Step 3 — Full Written Report

You receive a professional power quality report you can act on immediately — whether that means proceeding with a PFC install, presenting findings to your board, or using the data to benchmark your network.

No hidden extras. $1,500 ex GST, all inclusive.

If the audit confirms poor power factor and you proceed with a Fourth Phase PFC installation, we deduct $750 from your install quote. The audit cost is not wasted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I'm paying a kVar tariff?

Check your electricity bill for a line item labelled kVar, reactive power, or demand tariff. If you are a commercial or industrial customer in Victoria with significant motor loads and you are unsure, the audit will confirm exactly what is occurring on your network.

What size facility does power factor correction suit?

PFC systems are typically justified for facilities with electricity bills above $3,000–$5,000 per month that include a kVar tariff component. Food processing, plastics manufacturing, large HVAC operations, and industrial plants are the most common candidates in Victoria.

Does the logger affect our operations?

No. The logger is installed non-intrusively into your switchboard and records data passively over seven days. No impact on production, no interruption to supply.

What if the audit finds our power factor is fine?

You still receive a full written report confirming the health of your network — useful as a baseline for maintenance records. You pay $1,500 ex GST for certainty either way.

If we proceed with a PFC install, what happens to the audit fee?

We deduct $750 from your install quote. Half the audit cost is credited directly. You are not paying twice.

Do you handle the full installation?

Yes. Audit, design, supply, installation, and commissioning — all in-house. You do not need to source or coordinate any other party.

What areas do you service?

Melbourne and Regional Victoria — including the eastern suburbs, Yarra Valley, and manufacturing regions across Victoria including Maryborough, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, and surrounds.
